Ruff and Tumble Russell Terriers

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Q: If I am placed on a waiting list and a puppy becomes available from an earlier litter; can I switch?
A: ABSOLUTELY!!! We will happily transfer your waiting list deposit to a puppy from an earlier litter.
02
Q: The waiting list says "full" but how do I know if a puppy comes available?
A: FACEBOOK!! We only take 4 people on the waiting list per planned litter, and average litter size is 4-6 so we occasionally will have available puppies once a litter arrives. Watch our Facebook page for updates on a planned litter as they will all be posted there.
03
Q: How do you handle your "extra puppies" once a litter arrives?
A: We keep our Facebook page as updated as possible when it comes to litter arrival. Generally, once labor has ended, we will notify our waiting list and share a public post on our social media platforms. We will maintain a degree of privacy during the first two weeks to manage expectations as it is not uncommon to lose a puppy during this delicate time. Once we announce the number of puppies in a litter, we will accept new deposits on the waiting list if the number of puppies is more than our current list.
04
Q: Once the litter arrives, how do we know which puppy is ours?
A: The quick answer is we go in order of the waiting list. However, we will maintain a degree of privacy during the first two weeks to manage expectations as it is not uncommon to lose a puppy. Due to the high volume of hair type requests, we will not reserve specific puppies until they are five weeks old and I can tell you the hair type. Please note that every puppy is different, and I cannot guarantee hair type, but I will do my best.

05
Q: Can I have my puppy with its tail?
A: Yes, we are comfortable with leaving a long tail, however we do require that the puppy be paid in full before the puppies would go to the vet for the procedure (2-5 days of life).
06
Q: Do you ever have older adults available for adoption?
A: Sometimes. Our adult Russell Terriers are a huge part of our family, however, we also realize that we cannot keep them all and still continue to have enough room, time, and attention for our younger and upcoming females. We will spay and rehome some of our breeding females (generally around age 4). Adoptions of one of our adults is done through private conversations between us and the potential family. We want to make sure they are going to a loving home and will be well taken care of for the remainder of their lives. If you are interested in adopting one of our adults please email or call us and we will talk further about that.
07
Q: How many coat types are there and how will I know what coat type my puppy has?
A: There are 3 different coat types for the Russell Terriers. Smooth, Broken and Rough. All 3 are possible with each litter. I will not be able to tell you the coat type of a puppy until it is 5 weeks old. For our families that are specific on coat type, if you put a deposit down on a puppy and it is not the coat type you are wanting, your deposit is nonrefundable, but it is transferable to another litter.
